COMICS FOR THE DIGITAL AGE
Ages 16-29
Summer 2021, Online

In this online workshop, student fellows will discover the amazing narrative and artistic qualities of comics, and challenge their preconceived notions of the art form. Through analysis of groundbreaking published material they’ll learn core concepts such as theme, story structure, characterization, and art design. Then, drawing on social concepts, mythology and folklore, pop culture, and personal experience, they’ll create their own original strips, building from short episodes of one to three panels, up to longer works.  Their work will be published in serial form on BYFA’s Instagram, exhibited through a virtual exhibition, and shared on the program website.  Limited to 8 student fellows.
